Chronic, late complications of diabetes
The best and the easiest ways are to prevent complications and to try to divert them as much as possible. You can significantly affect the risk of complication appearance. There are statistical data in the literature which summarize incidence of chronic complication of diabetes. Therapy of these complications is complicated, time-consuming and very demanding. Some of damages are of such extend that it is not possible to return to original state. Next, the most serious complications are specified.
Microvascular complications
Microvascular complications are complications which developed due to long-lasting damages of tissue and its smallest vessels by insufficient diabetes compensation.
Retinopathies - damage of vessels in retina, deterioration and eventually loss of vision appears
Nephropathies - damage of kidneys and their subsequent failure
Macrovascular complications
Macrovascular complications are caused by long-lasting damages of circulatory system - high blood pressure, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, brain stroke …
Neuropathies
Neuropathies are nerve endings damages in limbs, decrease and eventually loss of sensitivity leading to consecutive damage of diabetic patient (he does not feel for instance scorch, injury by sharp objects - stone pricked into his foot, etc.)
Complications of various origin
Among these complications, infections of gums and mouth, damage of vessels and nerves of lower limbs (e.g. diabetic leg syndrome often leading to leg amputations) and others can be found.
