Glycemia - the way of its measurement
Glycemia measurement is nowadays much easier, faster and less painful, than in past. In the market, glucometers (equipments for individual glycemia measurement) from numerous producers can be found. They differ in various parameters, size, shape or colours. Main general demands on glucometers are - reliability, speediness, accuracy, discretion, simplicity for operation and maintenance. There also other requirements, such as possibility of connection and measured data transfer to computer, extended memory for storage of measured values, possibility of blood sample taking and measurement from places other than fingertip, speed of measurement below 10 seconds, etc. MTE offers glucometers of OneTouch® line, and test strips for them (OneTouch® Ultra®, OneTouch® SmartScan™, GlucoTouch®, OneTouch®).
The worlds most wide-spread, modern and popular glucometer is OneTouch® Ultra®, which fulfils all above listed requirements and is fully reimbursed for type 1 diabetics by health insurance.
For type 2 diabetics, glucometers for whom are not reimbursed by health insurance, we have a new-flash from October 2006 from OneTouch® line - glucometer OneTouch® UltraEasy™ - which excels in simplicity, accuracy and reliability, is affordably priced and of very attractive design. The strips for this glucometer are the same ones as for OneTouch® Ultra®.
Test strips are also repaid by health insurance, but not to the same extend to all diabetic patients - it depends on their treatment (tablets, insulin - number of doses per day, etc.). It may therefore happen that you will need to by some extra strips. They can be obtained in pharmacies, medical supplies shops and - at advantageous price - directly in our company MTE (order by phone, fax, e-mail or in written form).
