Insulin pens

Insulin pen is an aid for subcutaneous application of insulin. Insulin pen is used by most of diabetics treated by insulin. Cartridges are inserted into insulin pens - glass bottles of 3 ml volume filled with insulin. The usual insulin concentration is 100 IU/ml.

Advantages and disadvantages of insulin pen

On the contrary to insulin syringes, it is not necessary to fill insulin pen with insulin prior each application since insulin is stored in the pen as ink in the fountain pen. Unlike insulin pump which must be kept all the time with diabetic, insulin pens enable greater liberty (bathing...).

One of disadvantages of insulin pens is necessity to apply insulin even at somewhat difficult situations (during work, at a bus, in restaurant, etc.)
