Footwear for diabetics - MEDI®
Footwear MEDI represent new generation of comfortable shoes made according to the latest findings of biomechanics of walk and principles of healthy shoes wearing. Construction of footwear and materials used in it guarantee maximal comfort during long-lasting standing and walking.
The shape and finish of shoes and sock linings MEDI were designed according to results of extensive anthropometric measurements of feet and tested in cooperation with Laboratory of Biomechanics at University of Tomáš Baťa in Zlín and various clinics in the Czech Republic and abroad. Research on MEDI footwear is carried out in the frame of international project EUREKA.
The prophylactic shoes for diabetics are produced by Baťa stock company, which from 14. 4. 2005 holds new certificate, necessary for fulfilling the norm ČSN 79 5600:2005
The features of diabetic footwear MEDI
- seamless cutting (style) and size of shoes respect changes in volume of feet during the day
- sufficient space for toes prevents their deforming and local pressing
- support correct function of instep (vault)
- ensure optimal pressure distribution between sole and surface
- minimize pains of legs and backbone during walking
- formed calcaneal part improves stability during walking
- sole part spreads out local pressures during stepping on uneven surface
- changeable insert insoles MEDI are provided with antibacterial modification
- lining is produced also in antibacterial modification and forms favourable microclimate in the shoes
- employed materials improve heat-isolation features of the footwear
